Second phase of election continues in Nepal, counting of votes starting

The second phase of general election of 7 December is going today. In this two-phase elections, 275 Member of Parliament will be selected by the 15 million voters, along with seven provincial parliament representatives, will also decide in seven separate provinces. Polling is going on in 45 districts today and the polling will end at 5 pm.

More than 200,000 security personnel had been deployed in the second phase of the federal parliament and provincial council elections on Thursday, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Home affairs.

Thursday evening, the offices of the Chief Election Officers will start the counting of votes in strict security measures.

In the first phase, on 26 November, the elections of the parliament members and the provincial council will be held in 32 districts. After the election of first phase, the ballot boxes were placed in strict security in the electoral area based government offices of the district headquarters. On the other hand, the same newspaper reported on 6th of December, a series blasts were reported from Dhanusha, Kapilabastu and Kailali districts on Tuesday.  Nepal Police toldd on Wednesday that the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand is responsible for the series of bombings throughout the country.
